Pomp and Circumstance
One of the greatest feelings in life is hearing today's song when you are walking towards your seat at your own graduation! I remember hearing it last year at my Master's graduation at RIT, and I can still remember the great feeling of happiness that I got. These next few weekends will be filled with a lot of people graduating from their colleges, so aDayBlog would like to say congratulations, and to play "Pomp and Circumstance" in their honor. Your graduation day means a lot to you, your family, and your friends. Make sure you have a great time, party hard, and enjoy the festivities!

Turin Brakes - Over and Over
I saw a graphical link on the home page of iTunes last night that had 2 guys jumping and reaching out towards the ceiling/sky. It looked a lot more fun than the other mundane links that are usually there, so I decided to click on it and listen to the group. The group, Turin Brakes was actually really good. The CD they were promoting was called "Live Session", and it was and iTunes Exclusive EP. My favorite song that I heard was "Over and Over". It reminded me a little of some of my favorite Radiohead songs. The song was really centered around the vocals. For the instrumentals, I heard percussion, guitar, and keyboard...that's it! They were nicely balanced with each other and with the vocals. I also really liked the transition of beats between the chorus and the rest of the song sections. I am gong to look into other music by the group and see if it was as good as the songs on Live Session...if so, I might have to buy another CD for my collection!

Bunny Shack - Peter Cottontail
Since I will not be posting tomorrow (taking off Friday - Monday because of the Holiday), I decided that I had to pick some song for Easter today! Since I do not know any Easter songs that you would hear on your Rock/Pop/Country channels, I decided to go back in my past and talk about my favorite Easter song..."Peter Cottontail"! I don't think I know one person that has not heard this song before. It is about a rabbit named Petter that is coming with Easter goodies (candy, flowers, baskets) to give out to the boys and girls. This song has been sung on a lot of children's CDs, but I tried to find the version that is the most enthusiastic and easy to sing along with. The CD, "It's Easter Time Again!" is full of Easter songs that kids will love to listen to...even though I have never heard any of these other songs! Have a great Easter holiday!

DJ Snooch - Baby Got Badunkadunk
At the end of February, I wrote about
Honky Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Adkins. I received a comment on that post last week directing me to a mix he (DJ Snooch) did with this song and "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot. I liked the mix so much that I felt that it would be a great song to write about! The majority of the mix is Trace's song with a little more up-beat tempo that gives the song just enough energy to keep up with Sir Mix-A-Lot's song. The mix is very clean to listen to and you can tell some time was put into making it! The song can be heard in its entirety at
myspace.com. So, what did you think about the mix?

Weird Al Yankovic - The Night Santa Went Crazy
I wonder if more people laughed or felt their jaws hit the floor when they first heard the song, "The Night Santa Went Crazy" by Weird Al Yankovic. I don't remember the first time I heard that song, but knowing my sense of humor, I know I was laughing hysterically (while saying "that's not right" in-between my laughs). The song is about Santa snapping at the North Pole, and him going on a rampage after the elves, the workshop, and the reindeer. The lyrics can be a little too much for younger people...so only listen to this when the kiddies are all snuggled into their beds. Also, please remember that this is song (like all songs by Weird Al) is a parody, and should not be taken seriously! On that note, happy listening and have a great Christmas.
